Service Description

It provides home living for persons with moderate mental handicap who are capable of basic self-care but lack adequate daily living skills to live independently in the community.

 

Eligibility for the Service

Moderately mentally handicapped persons who are:

  • aged 15 or above;
  • physically and mentally suitable for group living;
  • physically healthy with no active infectious disease; and
  • actively occupied in or being arranged for admission to day placement.

  • Life skills training
  • Interest Groups, Recreation and Social Activities
  • Counselling Service
  • Community Education and Carer Support
  • Volunteer Service

Service Quota

Dormitory for persons with moderate intellectual disabilities: 51

Residential respite service: 1 person
 

Service Fee

Fees determined by the Social Welfare Department

 

Application Procedures

Referrals can be made by social workers and staff of rehabilitation service units to the Central Referral System for Rehabilitation Services of the Social Welfare Department.  The application is free of charge.  The applicant should report to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) immediately in case anyone offers to assist in application for residential placement in return for remuneration.  Attempted bribery by any person is also an offence in law, SWD will refer the case to ICAC for investigation
